WRISE PROJECT INFORMATION
The Federation of Uganda Employers is currently implementing a project called the "Work Readiness for Inclusive and Sustainable Enterprise Project" (WRISE)
The Work Readiness and social protection Program seeks to equip recent graduates with adequate skills & competence, which eventually can enhance the productivity of young people. Specifically, the work-readiness programme aims to support the graduates during the first six months as they transition to full employment. It targets the skills gaps of the graduates as they transition from learning to work.
The beneficiary of the programme will be considered an employee, in a training programme that requires close monitoring by the employer, who co-designs the implementation with the Federation of Uganda Employers, a tailor-made in-company learning programme for the new employees. Through this project, 600 TVET and University graduates will gain access to their first employment opportunities in agriculture value chain, tourism, and green economy sectors via a digital job portal with a target of retaining atleast 60% of these graduates in their roles.
FUE Salary Contribution:
- FUE through the grant will provide monthly salary contribution of up to 80% of the graduate salary as per employment contract or up to a maximum of 660,000/= (Uganda shillings) inclusive of NSSF contribution for a period of six (6) months for 600 graduates.
- The Company where the graduate is placed will contribute the 20% of the graduate salary as per the Company salary scale.
- Companies that will offer contracts for at least one year to the graduates after the placement period, FUE will support with additional salary contribution of 50% of the earlier Salary contribution or up to a maximum of 330,000/= (Uganda shillings) for extra two months.
- FUE will contribute 120,000 to the supervisors of the host companies on a monthly basis.
Graduate salary contributions from FUE, will be paid directly to host companies and will in the beginning be an advance of 3 months and subsequent disbarments will be on monthly basis.
In collaboration with FUE, Enabel will provide occupation appropriate PPE and worker man's compensation insurance cover for a period of 6 months during the work-readiness program. FUE will provide list of graduates attached to employers with contracts to Enabel for processing of insurance cover and appropriate PPE. Substantive PPE for each graduate will include branded overalls, cloves, and gumboots. However, not all the graduates will be given substantive PPE because some of the sectors may not require PPE.
